Man Killed in Union Square Hit-Run

Police are looking for the man who ran down a 33-year-old man near his home by Union Square early Sunday.

Doohee Cho was right outside his home, crossing Fifth Avenue between East 15th and East 16th streets, when he was hit by a white sedan that then fled, police said. Friends and family told NBC 4 New York that Cho lived nearby and may have been crossing the street to get home when he was hit.

First responders, called to the scene at around 3:15 a.m. by a 911 call, found him with severe head trauma.

Cho was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His brother said he attended Rutgers College in New Brunswick and worked for GE Capital.

Police are searching for the driver who hit him, and have posted digital signs near the crash site asking anyone with information about the hit-and-run to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
