Man Hit, Killed by NJ Transit Bus in Newark: Prosecutor

A man was struck and killed by a NJ Transit bus in Newark Wednesday evening, authorities say.

The pedestrian stepped in front of a bus on the No. 62 line while crossing Broad Street before 7:30 p.m., the Essex County prosecutor's office said.

The victim was taken to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

None of the 54 passengers on board the bus was injured, the prosecutor's office said.

It appears the bus driver had the right of way, authorities said.
