The Union City man was arguing with his girlfriend in the home they shared with their two children

A New Jersey man faces several charges after he allegedly poured gasoline on his ex-girlfriend and inside the apartment they shared with their two children.

Union City police tell The Jersey Journal that 30-year-old Edwin Cornejo-Flores is charged with making terroristic threats and two counts of aggravated arson. His bail was set at $75,000 cash.

The couple was arguing Friday when Cornejo-Flores allegedly doused the apartment with gasoline.

The woman ran to a nearby beauty salon and asked people there to call 911. Cornejo-Flores was arrested a short time later without incident.

The woman refused medical attention at the scene, and authorities say she has filed for a temporary restraining order against Cornejo-Flores.

The woman and her children were allowed to return to the apartment Friday night.
