An early morning blaze ripped through a Staten Island home today, leaving one man dead and forcing another woman to leap out of a second floor window to escape the flames.
The blaze at 116 Laguardia Ave., a semi-attached two-story private home, was first reported at 4:30 a.m. The fire was brought under control at 5:15 a.m. Three firefighters were hospitalized with minor injuries, an FDNY spokesman said.
A 68-year-old man was found dead inside the home and a woman who jumped from the second floor was taken to Staten Island University Hospital where she is listed in stable condition.
The cause of the blaze is not yet know.
