A Long Island man faces a murder charge in connection with a body found burning in a wooded preserve.

A passing motorist spotted a fire on the side of Wading River-Manor Road in in the Otis Pike Preserve in Manorville at about 1:45 p.m. Thursday and discovered it was a burning body, according to Suffolk County police.

The body was later identified as German Guzman, 36, of Amityville.

Police arrested Rosales Mejia, 21, of Amityville, and he was arraigned Sunday on a charge of second-degree murder. It was unclear whether Mejia had obtained a lawyer who could comment on the arrest.
