Man Charged in Jaw-Breaking Road-Rage Assault: NY State Police

A Long Island driver was arrested Sunday in connection with a road-rage assault that left a man hospitalized with a broken jaw and facial fractures, New York State Police said.

Troopers from Lake Success responded to a report of a road-rage incident at about 2 p.m. and found a man who appeared to have been attacked in a Nissan on the Meadowbrook State Parkway near Hempstead Turnpike.

Witnesses reported seeing a man in a red Lexus force the Nissan off the road, exit his car and punch the other driver. The Lexus then sped away, but a witness noted the license plate number.

Armed with that information, troopers arrested Rouson Hinton, 28, as he pulled his Lexus up to his Dale Place residence in Uniondale, police said. They also noted that Hinton's two-year-old child was in the car.

Hinton was charged with a felony count of second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child. It was unclear whether he had obtained a lawyer who could comment on the charges.

The Nissan driver was taken to Winthrop University Hospital. Information about his condition wasn't available.
