Man Stabbed in Back at Latin Festival: NYPD

A suspect was taken into custody, police said

A man was stabbed in the back during a dispute Saturday at a street festival that kicks off a weekend of Puerto Rican pride.

The 42-year-old victim was being treated at a hospital in Harlem for a wound that wasn't life-threatening, police said.`

The stabbing occurred near the intersection of Third Avenue and 116th Street in the vicinity of 116th Street Festival, which is billed as the largest Latin festival in the Northeast.

A 33-year-old suspect was taken into custody, police said, adding that charges are pending.

The festival opens a weekend of celebration that culminates with the annual Puerto Rican Day parade in Midtown Manhattan. The parade is expected to attract 1.5 million spectators.
