Man Arrested for Slashing Another Man's Face on Long Island: Police

A man who slashed a 23-year-old man earlier this month on Long Island has been arrested, police said.

The victim was sitting in front of his home on N. Long Beach Avenue in Freeport around 3:30 p.m. on July 10 when 26-year-old Jose Rodriguez approached him, Nassau County police said.

Rodriguez allegedly used a box cutter that he was hiding in his hand to slash the victim from his cheek to his chin, causing a deep laceration. He then fled on foot.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he received 60 stitches to close the wound.

Police said Rodriguez and the victim had been involved in an ongoing feud.

Rodriguez turned himself in on Tuesday. He was charged with two counts of assault and criminal possession of a weapon. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
