A 39-year-old New Jersey man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl, prosecutors said.

David Fernandez, of Hackensack, was arrested Wednesday on charges of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli said Fernandez allegedly engaged in inappropriate sexual activities with a 13-year-old acquaintance on one occasion in March. He says incident in question happened in the nearby town of Englewood.

The alleged sexual abuse was reported to Englewood police, who conducted a joint investigation with the county prosecutors' sex crimes division.

Fernandez was being held on $200,000 bail. It wasn't known if he had an attorney.
