Man Arrested in East New York Shooting Death: Police

Police have arrested a man in connection with a November 2014 murder in Brooklyn.

Shamell Whidbee, 18, of Queens was charged with second-degree murder in the death of 21-year-old Hayden Michael, police said.

Michael was found Nov. 21 at about 2:30 p.m. on Wortman Avenue in East New York with gunshot wounds to the torso and the right arm. He was taken to Brookdale Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Whidbee is also charged with criminal use of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon in Michael’s death. It was not immediately known if he had an attorney.
