The real-estate market has been decrepit for months. Homeowners everywhere are struggling to sell their properties – and one man took matters into his own hands.
“No banks required.” That’s what the handwritten ad assures prospective buyers. The ad also offers one heck of a deal – save $850,000! Desperate to sell in the tough economy, Matthew Schreiber is selling his 8,500 square foot Long Island property for $1.65 million.
The 4.5-acre estate was appraised for $2.5 million; it has seven bedrooms, six bathrooms, three fireplaces, wet bars, kitchens, balconies, a pool and, yes, a six-car garage. It’s in mint condition, the ad proclaims from its forlorn post on a telephone pole.
Interested in buying? The sign, crudely written in black and red ink, is nailed to a pole at the intersection of 25A and Mill River Road in Lattington. Apparently hiring a broker is something this multi-million-dollar homeowner couldn’t afford.
