100-Year-Old Man Awarded High School Diploma

He may be 100 years old, but he's still young enough to get his high school diploma.

Centenarian Ben Parmet was awarded an honorary diploma on Thursday by the alumni association at James Madison High School in Brooklyn.

Parmet says he dropped out of high school in 1927 because of financial hardship. He took a job on Wall Street making $8 a day.

James Madison High School alumni association co-president Dick Kossof says Parmet had told everyone that his biggest regrets was not going back to get his high school diploma.

Kossof says the group became determined to fulfill Parmet's wish.

The association presented Parmet with the diploma as he sat in his wheelchair in the lobby of the Sarah Neuman Center in Mamaroneck, where he lives now.
