Madonna, Ritchie Ask NY Courts for Custody Order

Madonna and Guy Ritchie have petitioned to make the British custody order concerning their two children legally binding in New York.

The petition in Manhattan's state Supreme Court says both consent to making the British custody order official here for 8-year-old Rocco and 3-year-old David.

The pop star and the British film director married in Scotland on Dec. 22, 2000, and divorced Jan. 7, 2009.

Court papers say they have joint legal custody, with Madonna having primary physical custody and Ritchie having specified visitation rights.

The custody agreement also states which French language schools the kids will attend, requires Ritchie to have a computer system that allows Internet dialogue, and requires that both parents assure the children's Jewish religious education.
