Macy's is considering transforming the roof of its flagship 34th Street store into a park, replete with green space and restaurants.
The Herald Square location, a massive 2.2 million square feet, is one of the more popular tourist attractions in the city.
Douglas Sesler, Macy's executive vice president of real estate, said adding a rooftop garden would help "activate the store's upper levels," according to The Street.

The new shopping experience strategy could be a way for the struggling department store chain to combat its declining sales. On Tuesday, Macy's warned investors that its profit margins would keep shrinking this year, The Associated Press said.
