A two-alarm fire inside Macy's flagship store in midtown Manhattan forced the store to be evacuated Friday evening.

According to officials, the fire started just after 8 p.m. in the department store's sub-basement.

More than a dozen fire trucks responded to the scene and a stretch of sidewalk on Seventh Avenue between 34th and 35th streets was shut down as crowds of onlookers gathered to watch.
