W Train Set to Return in November After 6-Year Hiatus: MTA

Commuters, rejoice!

The W train, discontinued in 2010 amid MTA budget cuts, will resume service on Monday, Nov. 7, an MTA spokesperson told NBC 4 New York Thursday.

The route will run between Astoria, Queens and lower Manhattan in lieu of the current Q train route.

The Q will be rerouted on the Second Avenue subway line, which is scheduled to open in December.
