Authorities arrested a 69-year-old registered sex offender who allegedly tried to lure a 12-year-old girl into his car in Astoria last week.
Police say Houshang Hakimi drove up alongside the young girl near 49th Street and Ditmars Boulevard shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday and tried to convince her to get into his SUV. She refused and the suspect drove off when the girl's babysitter approached, authorities say.
Houshang, who has no current address, was charged Tuesday with endangering the welfare of a child and failing to report a chance of address as a registered sex offender.
It wasn't clear if he had an attorney.
