Woman Fatally Struck by Taxi on Long Island: Police

The investigation into the accident is continuing

Authorities on Long Island are investigating after a pedestrian was fatally struck by a taxi Sunday morning.

Gail Oses was walking on Route 112 in Port Jefferson Station around 3:05 a.m. when she was hit by a southbound 2010 Crown Victoria, Suffolk County Police said.

Oses was taken to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said. The driver of the taxi and his two passengers were not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check, police said. It is owned by Lindy’s Taxi, which didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

The investigation into the accident is continuing.
