A Long Island woman faces a murder charge accusing her of suffocating her newborn baby and then stuffing the body into a plastic bag.
Nassau County police were called to the Glen Head home of 20-year-old Sharon Seudat on Thursday after her mother and brother heard screaming and found her bleeding profusely in her bedroom, said Detective Capt. John Azzata.
There was no sign of a baby in the house at the time, police said.
A medical examination revealed that Seudat had given birth, Azzata said. Seudat, who hid the pregnancy from her parents, initially denied giving birth.
Investigators found the baby's lifeless body in a black plastic bag on a back deck at the home. The child was born alive and was suffocated, Azzata said.
Seudat is a student at Nassau Community College and worked part-time at a car wash, police said. The father of the baby was not aware Seudat was pregnant and had not been in contact with Seudat for awhile, police said.
