Prosecutor: Fugitive in Long Island Model Scam Held in Fla.

James Muniz is suspected of defrauding dozens of clients out of more than $250,000.

Prosecutors say the CEO of a Long Island modeling agency suspected of scamming clients out of thousands of dollars has been arrested in Florida.

James Muniz was arrested by investigators from the Nassau County district attorney's office in Hialeah, Fla., on Tuesday.

Muniz is being held in the Miami-Dade County jail awaiting extradition to New York. It was not immediately known if he has an attorney.

Muniz is suspected of defrauding dozens of clients out of more than $250,000. He and subordinates are charged with promising roles and modeling jobs that never existed.

The arrests follow a joint investigation with the state attorney general's office.

Prosecutors say they have gotten 300 calls from additional suspected victims since revealing the scam last month.
