A houseguest was shot in the chest as he answered a knock on the door at a home in an affluent Long Island community, police said Saturday.
The gunman fired once through the door of the Dix Hills home, Suffolk County investigators said.
The victim, a Virginia resident whose identity hasn't been disclosed by police, was taken to Huntington Hospital where he was said to be in critical condition.
The shooting occurred at about 9:15 p.m. Friday and police said they had no suspects.
