Long Island Man Gets Prison for Deaths of 13 Dogs

The dead dogs ranged in age from about two and a half months to 5 years old

A Long Island man has been sentenced to up to three years in prison following the deaths of 13 pit bulls that prosecutors say were bred and trained for fighting.

Anthony Reddick was sentenced up to three years Monday after pleading guilty in August to charges including animal fighting. He was also charged with training of dogs and possession of animal fighting paraphernalia.

Reddick was a tenant in a Freeport home where investigators discovered dogs and dogfighting apparatus following a garage fire in February. Three other pit bulls were found alive.

As part of his sentence, Reddick is prohibited from owning any other animals for 15 years.

The dead dogs ranged in age from about two and a half months to 5 years old.
