A man drowned in the waters off Mastic Beach on Long Island Monday afternoon, police say.
A man was swimming at Smith Point County Park in Mastic Beach and then was seen floating near the shore minutes later, witnesses told police.
Beachgoers pulled the man out of the water and attempted CPR.
Responding emergency officers transported the man, identified as 48-year-old Kerry Agosto of Ronkonkoma, to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
