A 49-year-old man was killed Sunday when the jeep he was driving overturned and caught fire on Long Island, police said.
Michael Schuierer, of East Patchogue, apparently lost control of his jeep at about 12:15 p.m. on Sunrise Service Road in Bayport, Suffolk County police said. The jeep overturned and started to burn.
Two people attempted to pull Schuierer from the wreck, but had to back off as flames engulfed the vehicle, investigators said.
Detectives ask that anyone with information about the crash contact the Suffolk County Police Department.
