A Long Island man was arrested on child porn charges after he allegedly began exchanging lewd photos with a 13-year-old boy with whom he initially met to trade sneakers, police say.
The 36-year-old Brentwood man, Yobani Diaz, met the boy on a Facebook buy-and-trade site in 2014, and met with him several times over the course of a year to exchange new and used sneakers, according to police.
Diaz soon began to send sexually explicit pictures to the boy through Facebook and asked him to the do the same, police said.
The boy eventually told his mother what was happening, and she contacted police.
Diaz was arrested Monday morning on charges of promoting sexual performance by a child, possessing a sexual performance by a child, disseminating indecent material to a minor, and endangering the welfare of a minor.
He's expected to be arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead. Attorney information wasn't immediately available.
