Long Island Homeowner Shot After Burglary: Police

Police say a homeowner was shot after a burglary in the overnight hours on Long Island, and one suspect has been caught, but authorities are still searching for two more.

The 42-year-old homeowner noticed a strange car parked in front of his home on Sundial Lane in North Bellport at about 3 a.m. and went to speak with the men inside the car, according to police.

As he was walking back to the house, two of the men inside the car got out, and one of them pointed a gun to the man's head and forced him into the house, police said.

Once inside, a struggle broke out between the suspects and the man and his 21-year-old son, police said, and the man was shot once in the stomach.

The suspects got away, and a short time later, a patrol officer located their car on Stuart Road in Shirley. Two of the men inside the car got out and ran away, but the third was caught and taken into custody.

That suspect, identified as 39-year-old Tory Fenner, was charged with burglary and criminal possession of a weapon. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney.

The investigation is continuing; police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 800-220-TIPS.
