A Long Island woman was arrested Saturday for driving drunk while her granddaughter was in the car, police said.
A highway patrol officer saw Wanda Carter, 42, allegedly driving her car at a high speed and erratically changing lanes at around 3:30 a.m. on Patchogue's Sunrise Highway.
Carter, who had her 7-year-old granddaughter in the car, was allegedly intoxicated. Police say she gave her daughter's name rather than her own and wouldn't provide a driver's license.
Carter has 28 suspensions on her license and two related warrants, according to police.
Charges against Carter included driving while intoxicated and endangering the welfare of a child.
