Man Arrested for DWI in Long Island Hit-Run

A pedestrian was seriously injured in the Huntington Station crash

A man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated in connection with a hit-and-run on Long Island that seriously injured a pedestrian, police said.

According to officials, Christian Pivaral was driving a car on New York Avenue in Huntington Station early Saturday when he hit Alexander Thomas, who was crossing the street.

Police said Pivaral fled the scene and was caught a short time later.

The extent of Thomas' injuries is unclear.
