Long Island Man Says Police Beat Him During Traffic Stop

A Long Island man says he was beaten by police officers after he was pulled over for a traffic stop last month.

Nassau County police say Kyle Howell, 20, had marijuana and cocaine in the car and tried to eat a bag of pot to dispose of the evidence after he was pulled over in Westbury.

Howell denies those charges. He says he handed over his information to a police officer, who then opened his door, causing his paycheck to fly out of his car.

"I went to go reach and the next thing you know, I got a knee to the face," Howell said Tuesday.

He says the next thing he remembers is waking up in the hospital, with injuries to his face, including broken bones.

The Nassau district attorney is investigating. Nassau police had no immediate comment.
