A worker died at a Long Island packing plant after two pallets loaded with bottles of vodka sauce fell on her.
Homicide detectives were investigating the death of Yolanda Gonzalez at L&S Packing in East Farmingdale.
Police say the Lake Ronkonkoma woman was labeling canned tomatoes just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday when the nearby pallets toppled over onto her. Several co-workers tried to help the 39-year-old shipping manager by removing the debris. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified.
A call to the packing facility was not immediately returned Wednesday night.
