1. NYC Guarantees Comprehensive Health Care for All

NYC will begin guaranteeing comprehensive health care to every single resident regardless of someone's ability to pay or immigration status, an unprecedented plan that will protect the more than half-a-million New Yorkers currently using the ER as a primary provider, Mayor de Blasio said.

It's not health insurance, his spokesman clarified after the surprise announcement on MSNBC.

"This is the city paying for direct comprehensive care (not just ERs) for people who can't afford it, or can't get comprehensive Medicaid — including 300,000 undocumented New Yorkers," spokesman Eric Phillips tweeted.

2. Government Shutdown 'Bad News' for MTA Customers

Sen. Chuck Schumer says the subway could be in trouble if the government shutdown goes a lot longer. 

That is because the federal government pays the MTA about $150 million every month, and the agency will be missing out on this month's check. 

The MTA didn't go into detail, but they told the New York Post a long shutdown will be bad news for customers.

3. Long Island Resturant Takes Bird Box Challenege to a New Level

A restaurant on Long Island is taking the Bird Box challenge thing to a whole new level. 

The Milleridge Inn in Jericho is hosting a Bird Box-themed dinner on Friday. 

The restaurant says guests will have to stay quiet to avoid the monsters for the whole meal, but afterwards they wil whisk you away to a safe room where you can hear chirping birds and watch the Netflix hit.
