An Upstate New York community found itself dealing with an oil spill Saturday morning after a tanker truck sprang a leak.
An oil delivery truck carrying 6,500 gallons of heating fuel developed a leak at about 8:15 a.m. in a neighborhood in Yonkers, city fire officials said.
About 2,100 gallons leaked from the tanker, some of which flowed into a storm drain leading to the Bronx River, said Robert Capurso, the fire department's chief of operations.
Firefighters erected a dike around the leakage and managed to contain about 1,500 gallons, he said.
An oil clean-up company pumped the remaining oil out of the truck and cleaned the spill.
