A city lawmaker has warned New Yorkers that some peanuts contaminated with salmonella may have found their way on to the shelves of area dollar stores.
Peanut Corporation of America acknowledged this week that it sold peanut products directly to dollar stores, which include General Dollar and Dollar Tree, Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner, of Brooklyn and Queens, said Wednesday.
Some lawmakers contend that Georgia- based Peanut Company of America may have knowingly shipped peanut products with salmonella. State prosecutors can bring criminally negligent homicide charges for the deaths that resulted in this case.
