Laura Bush Visits NYC to Discuss Human Rights

First lady Laura Bush says she will continue to fight for human rights after leaving the White House, especially in Afghanistan and Myanmar.

She spoke Wednesday before the Council on Foreign Relations in Manhattan on the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The first lady, who fielded questions from the audience, said she was particularly concerned about promoting the rights of women in Afghanistan and Myanmar, previously known as Burma.

The Council on Foreign Relations sponsors more than 250 panel discussions, lectures and other programs devoted to world events every year.
