Woman Steals Elderly Man's Dog Outside Midtown Starbucks: Police

The 76-year-old came out of a Starbucks to find his Labradoodle gone

Police are searching for a woman they say stole an elderly man's dog from outside a Starbucks coffee shop in midtown last month.

The 76-year-old man went to the shop at 943 2nd Ave., near 50th Street, at about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, police said. He tied his dog's leash to a phone booth outside and left the labradoodle as he entered the shop.

When he came back outside, he found his dog gone.

Police have released surveillance video from near the coffee shop showing a woman with the dog believed to be the victim's. She's described as about 25 years old, about 5 feet 4 inches tall with long black hair. She was wearing a patterned long-sleeve jacket and black pants in the video.
