LIRR Service Resumes After Jamaica Station Suspension: MTA

Long Island Railroad service resumed Monday morning at Jamaica station in Queens after fire department activity forced officials to stop trains running to and from the transit hub, the MTA announced.

Trains stopped running at the station at about 10 a.m., the MTA said. Trains began running again at about 10:30 a.m., but residual delays of up to 45 minutes were expected.

Train service between Jamaica and Atlantic Terminal and Penn Station was also affected.

One commuter told an NBC 4 New York reporter at about 10 a.m. that he had been stranded at the station for more than an hour.
