L.I. Police Seek Hit-and-Run Driver

Police are looking for the driver of a car who struck and killed a pedestrian on a Sayville, Long Island street last night.

The victim, identified as 42-year-old Daniel Fanuele, was walking on Lakeland Avenue when he was struck at around 8:52 p.m., Suffolk County Police said today.  The car fled in an unknown direction and police found the victim lying in the southbound lane of Lakeland Avenue, law enforcement said.

Police later identified the car involved as a 1997 to 2000 Toyota Camry -- likely blue-green in color.  Police also said the car might have damage to the front grill and bumper.
