A Long Island man shot and killed his girlfriend amid a fight over custody issues before turning the shotgun on himself, Suffolk County police said.
Police say Jason Jenkins, 27, was battling with Sanita Williams, 26, over visitation of their three-month-old daughter at a Bay Shore apartment early Tuesday.
Williams lived there with her sister, Shanna Jordan, who apparently jumped from a second-story window of the building early Tuesday to escape the gunfire, police said. She was taken to a hospital with a broken leg.
The couple had broken up a week earlier.
In addition to the couple's infant, two other children -- a 5-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy -- were in the apartment when the murder-suicide occurred.
