Suicide by Train Leads to Double Murder Mystery

Two found dead following suicide.

A Long Island Man early Wednesday committed suicide by jumping in front of an oncoming LIRR train, Suffolk County cops said -- but it was the grisly discovery made when police went to contact the next of kin that deepened the mystery.

Officials said Scott Maxwell jumped in front of an eastbound Long Island Rail Road train at Laurel Road and Lorraine Court at 1:10 a.m. Wednesday and was killed.

When officers went to Maxwell's house in East Northport they found two more dead bodies.

No information on the victims' identities was immediately available -- although the man's wife was reported missing, and he is said to have a young child.

Service on the LIRR's Port Jefferson line was suspended for two hours after the incident.
