Knife-Wielding Thieves Rob 3 Manhattan Spas in Four Days

Guess they didn't want to stick around for a pedicure

Two men in their 20s – perhaps with a penchant for pedicures – have been terrorizing spas and salons in Manhattan for the last week, police say.

The suspects, described as thin Hispanic men between the ages of 20 and 27, robbed three spas in four days, the first of which occurred at the Green Phoenix Spa in Midtown. In each heist, the suspects enter the spa, brandish a knife and steal cash from a woman before fleeing on foot. There have been no reported injuries in any of the robberies.

The devious duo hit the Bodywork Foot and Back Spa on Washington Place on Monday and the Shu Xin Services salon on Canal Street on Wednesday. In the two most recent robberies, the men forced the robbery victim into the bathroom before taking the cash.

The victims, all women, range in age from 42 to 56.

Both suspects are described as being in their 20s, but victims have told cops one apparently looks older. The suspect that is described as being older is thought to be about 5'10"-6' tall and was last seen wearing a black jacket and black boots. The younger suspect is about the same height but is described as being no older than 22. Police did not have information on the clothes he was last seen wearing.

Anyone with information about the spa robberies is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577 tips. Individuals can also submit tips online or text tips to 274637, then enter TIP577.
