Remains of Missing Kite Surfer From Brooklyn Found on New Jersey Beach

Officials say the body of 44-year-old Sinisa Bjelajac, of Brooklyn, was found Wednesday near Seven Presidents Park in Long Branch

The remains of a missing kite surfer from New York have been recovered on a New Jersey beach.

Officials say the body of 44-year-old Sinisa Bjelajac, of Brooklyn, was found Wednesday near Seven Presidents Park in Long Branch.

A boater reported seeing a kite surfer in distress near Horseshoe Cove in Gateway National Park around 5:30 p.m. last Friday.

The boater says he saw an unconscious man attached to a kite in harness, but as he was trying to pull the surfer from the water, a gust of wind pulled the kite line from his hands and he lost sight of the man.

Authorities searched coastal waters from Sandy Hook to Coney Island, New York, before suspending the search for the kite surfer on Aug. 5. In the sport, riders use surfboards and large kites to propel themselves across the water.
