Hundreds Come Out to NJ Event to Help Disabled

The event featured a race around the park, with participants walking, running, rollerblading and "rolling" in wheelchairs

Hundreds of people in New Jersey spent Sunday doing their part to help people with disabilities at the Kessler Foundation’s 11th annual "stroll n' roll."

The event held in Brookdale Park in Essex County featured a race around the park, with participants walking, running, rollerblading and "rolling" in wheelchairs.

Participants were also able to enjoy food, music and other family activities at the park.

All proceeds from the event go to programs that help people rehabbing from serious injuries.

Among those taking part this year was former Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand.

"Kessler’s done so much for me and now it’s time for me to give back," LeGrand said.

LeGrand injured his spine making a tackle in 2010. He rehabs five days a week, and said he continues to make progress.
