Jets, Giants Sue to Block NJ Megamall

Team officials say the mall violates a prior agreement that the teams must approve any expansion plans

The Jets and the Giants are suing to block a project that developers say would be the largest mall in the United States.

Officials from the Giants and the Jets say the proposed "American Dream" megamall at the Meadowlands violates a prior agreement that the teams must approve any expansion plans at the East Rutherford project site, which is near MetLife stadium where the teams play.

Lawyers representing the teams and the company that built the stadium also claim the project will create "a transportation nightmare" that will adversely affect football fans.

The suit was filed Friday in Superior Court in Bergen County.

A spokesman for Triple Five, the mall developers, called the suit "frivolous" and said it was an insult to New Jersey taxpayers and job seekers.
