The Independence Party of New York City has endorsed Mayor Michael Bloomberg's run for a third term.
The party announced its endorsement of the Democrat-turned-Republican-turned-independent Sunday.
Last month the Rev. A.R. Bernard of Brooklyn megachurch Christian Cultural Center endorsed Bloomberg.
Manhattan civic leaders Virginia Montague and Joyce Johnson also have announced their support for Bloomberg.
Last fall Bloomberg persuaded the City Council to extend the term limits law so that he could run for a third consecutive four-year term.
A federal lawsuit against the term-limits law is on appeal after being thrown out, and a state law that would require a voter referendum first is moving through the Legislature.
