Incentives Considered for Key 2 World Trade Center Tenants

The government agency rebuilding the World Trade Center site is considering giving millions in incentives to two companies negotiating a move to a proposed new office building.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey's agenda for Thursday's meeting includes a proposal to provide the incentives to News Corp. and 21st Century Fox.

The companies are effectively controlled by billionaire Rupert Murdoch's family. They would be tenants at the planned 2 World Trade Center building. Spokespeople for the companies declined comment.

Part of the deal calls for $15 million from New York state, as well as a tax credit valued at $10 million. Officials say the money would eventually be repaid.

The Port Authority says 2 World Trade Center could generate at least $500 million for future transportation projects
