Looking to beat the stifling heat with a dip at the closest ice cream shop? There's an app for that.
WNYC has launched an "Ice Cream Radar" that will find the closest scoop shop based on your location in the five boroughs.
The app is accessible from any web browser, and New Yorkers without a smartphone can text 9292-COOL-ME with their location in the city to find the closest treat.
The app pulls store data from Foursquare, Yelp and city inspection records.
