Normal Traffic into Manhattan to Resume in Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel Monday

The Hugh Carey Tunnel, formerly known as the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel, will resume normal operations Monday

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the Hugh Carey Tunnel, formerly known as the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel, will resume normal operations Monday with the opening of three lanes heading into Manhattan during peak morning drive times.

Both tubes reopened around-the-clock to all vehicles except trucks on Nov. 19, but the traffic pattern has been restricted due to damage.

Millions of gallons of water flooded the tunnel during the storm. The water destroyed the circuit board that controls overhead traffic signals inside the tunnel.
