Hundreds Wait Hours for Shot at Seasonal Work

Hundreds of people waited for hours for a chance at a part-time, seasonal job with the Staten Island Yankees.

More than 500 people showed up at Saturday's jobs fair hoping to snag one of 150 spots in jobs such as box office attendant, ground crew and cook.

Team officials say that's a sharp jump from last year, when about 165 people showed up.

Joseph Ricciutti, the team's president, says many applicants are out of work but are willing to take part-time employment because they need the income. He attributes the increased interest to the economic downturn.
