Hudson River Fish Count Saturday From NYC to Albany Area

Help is welcome for the annual Hudson River fish count this weekend.

Naturalists up and down the river on Saturday will work with visitors to help collect fish using 30-foot seine nets, minnow traps and rods and reels. The fish are released back into the river.

The count is being held at multiple banks and piers from New York City to the Albany area.

State environmental officials say comparing notes from the fish count helps build understanding of the Hudson's diversity. The river's estuary and watershed are home to more than 200 fish species.
