Authorities have made an arrest in the beating death of a New Jersey woman who was killed while house-sitting.
Gloucester County Prosecutor Sean Dalton has scheduled a Friday afternoon news conference to announce details in the death of 26-year-old Shawneeq Carter, who was killed inside the Woodbury home of an acquaintance Sept. 23.
Investigators have said she died from blunt force trauma and her death was ruled a homicide. Family members have said Carter was house-sitting for her sister-in-law, who was not home at the time. They also say Carter's 5-year-old son and another child were with her inside the home at the time of the killing, but that both kids were sleeping and didn't witness the attack.
"It was a sad scene because the little boys found the mother in the house and everything," said Aryeon Walker, a neighbor said at the time.
Detectives have not said whether they believe the crime was random or if Carter was specifically targeted.
